Save the World Tour: Charlotte
On Saturday, January 26th, we gathered 12 individuals in Charlotte, NC to come together for one cause - to make sandwiches for the homeless as a part of Operation Sandwich, a program through Urban Ministry Center where over 800 sandwiches are served daily.
By the hands of our group of volunteers, we were able to make 300 sandwiches to contribute to the organization. The afternoon of making the sandwiches was filled with optimism, good energy, happiness and selflessness that also allowed our group to make new relationships with the others involved. It was a special day for everyone.
With this being the first stop of the year-long tour, the stage is set for even more lives to touch and change that will all play a role in making the world a better place. Although we made 300 sandwiches, the help for our neighbors shouldn’t stop there.
There are hundreds of thousands of homeless citizens not only in America, but across the world. There are many ways that we can help resolve this problem and even performing a small gesture like making a sandwich can contribute to making somebody’s day better.
We encourage all to get involved in some way to help those in need in their community by finding a shelter or organization that supports the homeless and seeing how you can help. If you are in Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas and are interested in getting involved with Urban Ministry Center, check out their volunteer opportunities here and get active!
Thank you to everyone that made the first stop of the “Save the World” Tour possible and we can’t wait until the next city!
